Day 1: Depart UK Close

Depart the UK

Day 2: Arrive Kuching, Sarawak Close

Meet and greet and transfer to hotel. Rest of day at leisure.

Day 3: Kuching Close

Morning Sarawak River Cruise gliding passed colourful villages, the Astana, Fort Margherita and Kuching Waterfront. Return to hotel and later have a delicious food tour highlighting local dishes including lek tau suang, kep lapis and kueh chap.

Day 4: Bako National Park Close

The small peninsula is reached by car and longboat, and is home to seven distinct rainforest ecosystems. The most famous residents are the bizarre proboscis monkeys. It’s also home to silvered langurs, long-tailed macaque monkeys, wild boar, flying squirrels and hundreds of different bird species. Fascinating plant life includes mangroves, strangling figs, carnivorous pitcher plants and symbiotic ant plants. Unique geological features mark the coastline, whilst well-marked trails lead to rugged jungle-covered hilltops and secluded beaches.

Day 5: Kuching / Mulu Close

Morning flight from Kuching Airport to Mulu. Transfer to hotel. Then proceed on plank walk for 3km to reach Deer Cave & Lang Cave. See the bats flying out of caves (fine weather only). Return on plank walk back to park headquarters and then to the hotel.

Day 6: Mulu Close

After breakfast transfer by longboat to Batu Bungan – Penan Settlement – to observe the traditional tribal lifestyle. Continue journey by longboat to Wind Cave and Clearwater Cave. Picnic lunch at Clearwater summer huts with optional swim. After lunch, return by longboat to resort.

Day 7: Mulu / Kota Kinabalu, Sabah Close

At leisure until transfer to Mulu Airport for flight to Kota Kinabalu

Day 8: Kota Kinababalu / Kundasang Close

After breakfast drive through Sabah’s scenic landscapes with lush paddy fields laced with rustic local villages. Arrive at Tamparuli Town and walk on the famous ‘Jambatan Tamparuli’ suspension bridge. Continue through winding mountain roads to Nabalu Handicraft market. Arrive at Malaysia’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kinabalu National Park. The majestic view of Mount Kinabalu is superb. Guided walk along the nature trails in the Botanical Garden. Later drive to Sabah Tea Garden. Overnight cottage set amidst the 2,408 tea estate.

Day 9: Kundasang / Sepilok Close

Wake-up to a misty morning ushering in views of sun-draped Mount Kinabalu. After breakfast, Sabah Tea for a guided walk through the plantation and factory depart for Sepilok in the early afternoon. Later tour The Rainforest Discovery Centre, the gateway to understanding the uniqueness and importance of Borneo’s rainforests. Walk the 363m long canopy walkway and see the Plant Discovery Garden.

Day 10: Sepilok / Sukau Close

Check-out from resort and transfer to the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre. Visit the free roaming area feeding platform. See the feeding of Orang Utan being rehabilitated. Experience a walk in Tropical Lowland Dipterocarp Forest of Borneo. Visit the rescue Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre. After Lunch transfer to hotel. Then river cruise in search of wildlife and birds. Evening slide show by naturalist.

Day 11: Sukau Close

Early morning cruise up the Kinabatangan River to Kelenanap oxbow lake to view the birds and wildlife. Followed by an educational tour along the Hornbill Boardwalk with the in-house naturalist. In the afternoon take a river cruise for more wildlife viewing.

Day 12: Sukau / Sandakan / Kota Kinabalu Close

After breakfast, return overland to Sandakan. After lunch to airport for flight to Kota Kinabalu. Upon arrival at Kota Kinabalu International Airport, meet and greet by representative and transfer to Jesselton jetty for boat ride to Bungaraya Island Resort. Check-in at hotel.

Day 13: Kota Kinabalu Close

Breakfast at hotel. Full day at leisure to relax.

Day 14: Depart Kota Kinabalu Close

Breakfast at hotel. Day at leisure till transfer to the airport for onwards flight.

Day 15: Depart for UK Close

Return to the UK
